Team Bath’s Tom Gale got an early Christmas present when his name was announced in the squad for the Commonwealth Games 2018 in Brisbane. After a very successful 2017 season, where he won all available U20 High Jump titles available, this is a huge reward for the 18 year old. To add to this he also recently had it confirmed that he will receive funding for the coming year under the Podium Potential scheme. This has confirmed that his decision to take a year out following his A-Levels to focus on athletics was the correct one. This follows his excellent performances this year in the Diamond League and European Championships.

Tom will shortly be embarking on a trip to Tenerife for intensive winter training through December and January, and hopefully will come back fit and ready for the challenge ahead.

Tom has always been a great ambassador for the club and is highly respected by his peer group, but his rise has been rapid following his discovery through the English Schools Athletics trials.
