It has now been confirmed by the admin at Power of 10 that the long standing record for points scored in an Octathlon in the U17 age group, secured by a 14 year old, was broken by our own Rory Howorth.

Rory, having been born in July, is one of the younger Athletes in his age group, but secured 3rd Place at the South West Schools Combined Events Championships with a total score of 5013. The breakdown of this score included the following performances Long Jump 6.09m, Discus 31.83m, Javelin 40.27m, 400m 52.30s, 100mH 15.09s/-0.3, HJ 1.83m, SP 10.97m, and 1500m 4:11.72

This performance gave him a 2017 UK ranking of 5 overall for the U17 age group

Unfortunately injury prevented Rory from competing at the English Schools Championships at Boston, where he was sure to have secured another personal best.
