Jake Burkey and Sam Roberts were in action for the first time this season and came away with personal best times at the London Indoor Games held at Lee Valley Athletics centre. Sam was competing over two rounds of the under 20 men’s 60m and improved his time to 7.65 seconds. Jake was also in action in the 60m and long jump, setting a PB of 7.37 in the 60m and a season’s best of 6.62m in the long jump. Jenna Blundell ran two rounds of the under 20 women’s 60 hurdles and was just outside her quickest time with 9.08 seconds. Both Jonny Evans and Rory Howorth stepped up from the under 17 age group to compete in the under 20 men’s 400m. Rory finish 3rd in his heat with a time of 51.54 seconds and Jonny set a season’s best of 56.40 in his heat. Jonny also competed over 200m and finished 3rd in his heat with a season’s best of 24.94 seconds.

Femi Akinbobola was competing at the Midland Counties Open in Birmingham where he ran 7.47 in his first heat of the under 17 men’s 60m and 7.43 in his second heat.

John and Robert Howorth competed in the Senior Men’s 800m in Cardiff at the Welsh National Senior championships. Both John and Robert were drawn in the same heat and finished 2nd and 4th respectively, setting new indoor PBs of 1:55.82 and 1:56.98. They both qualified for the final and were drawn against Tom Marshall who has been selected to represent Wales at the Commonwealth Games. The final was won in 1:55.19 by Tom with John finishing 4th in 1:57.78 and Robert 5th in 1:59.17.
